Pre processing

This is a crucial step to ensure that the surface of the object being coated is clean and suitable for painting. Firstly, the workpiece needs to be degreased to remove surface oil stains, which can be achieved by soaking or spraying with chemical degreasers. Next, rust removal operations are carried out by means of acid washing, polishing, and other methods to remove rust. For some workpieces with higher requirements, phosphating or passivation treatment may also be performed to form a conversion film on the surface of the workpiece, enhance the adhesion of the coating, and improve its corrosion resistance. For example, before painting automotive parts, a strict pre-treatment process is carried out to ensure that the surface reaches a better condition.

Electrostatic spraying

Dalian powder coating is charged by an electrostatic spray gun, and under the action of a high-voltage electrostatic field, the powder is adsorbed onto the grounded surface of the coated object. The appropriate distance and angle should be maintained between the spray gun and the object being coated, usually around 15-30 centimeters, with a vertical or near vertical angle being preferred. Different spray gun settings and spraying parameters can affect the adsorption effect of powder and the uniformity of the coating. The sprayed workpiece enters the curing furnace for heating and solidification. The curing temperature and time depend on the type of powder coating and factors such as the material and shape of the workpiece. Generally speaking, the curing temperature is between 160-200 ℃, and the curing time varies from 10-30 minutes. During this process, the powder coating is heated, melted, flattened, and undergoes chemical reactions to form a hard and high-performance coating. For the painting of building metal components, the curing process strictly controls the temperature and time to ensure the quality and performance of the coating.

Post processing

The cured workpiece may require some post-processing procedures. For example, grinding and polishing the surface of the coating to remove possible defects and improve surface smoothness; Alternatively, secondary coating can be applied to meet special decorative or protective requirements. Some high-end electronic product casings undergo fine polishing and polishing after powder coating, making their appearance more exquisite.
